Fertilisation is carried out under strictly controlled laboratory conditions, where the eggs are incubated with the sperm to encourage natural fertilisation. Embryo development is closely monitored, and the highest-quality embryos are selected for transfer. A preimplantation genetic test (PGT) can be performed if necessary to ensure genetic integrity.

The steps of IVF using your own eggs
During your first consultation, we carry out a full fertility assessment, including a review of your medical history and any tests already performed. This allows us to personalise your treatment plan based on your specific needs and provide you with the best possible support. As part of this assessment, we evaluate your fertility potential to determine whether IVF with your own eggs is the right option for you.
To do this, we require the results of the following hormone tests:
-
LH (luteinising hormone)
-
FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone)
-
Progesterone
-
Estradiol
-
Prolactin
-
AMH (anti-Müllerian hormone)
These tests should be carried out on the third day of your menstrual cycle. The results help us assess your ovarian reserve and determine the most suitable stimulation protocol for your profile.
To maximise the chances of pregnancy, we implement a personalised protocol for administering gonadotrophins (FSH) to stimulate the development of multiple follicles. Regular ultrasounds and blood tests are carried out to monitor the ovarian response and ensure optimal follicle growth.
When the follicles reach an optimal size, an hCG injection is administered to trigger ovulation. Egg retrieval is then scheduled 36 to 48 hours later. The procedure is performed under light sedation and ultrasound guidance. Our embryologists then assess the quality and maturity of the eggs to maximise the chances of successful fertilisation.
Sperm collection is usually carried out on the same day as the egg retrieval. If natural sperm collection is not possible, a surgical retrieval may be considered. In cases of poor sperm quality, the use of donor sperm is also an option.
When the embryos reach the optimal stage of development, the selected embryo is gently transferred into the uterus under ultrasound guidance. This quick and painless procedure requires only a short period of rest.

After the embryo transfer, progesterone treatment is administered to support implantation by maintaining the uterine lining. A pregnancy test is performed 14 days later, followed by an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy.

What are the advantages of IVF using your own eggs?
In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) using your own eggs offers several significant advantages:
-
High success rates for various infertility conditions: Sanus Clinic is known for its high success rates, thanks to cutting-edge techniques and experienced professionals.
-
Less invasive than ICSI: Conventional IVF is often preferred as it is less invasive than Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), reducing risks and discomfort for the patient.
-
Donor options available: If needed, Sanus Clinic offers the possibility of using donor eggs or sperm, expanding options for heterosexual couples.
It is important to note that IVF treatments in the Czech Republic are legally available only to heterosexual couples. Assisted reproduction is prohibited by law for single women and same-sex female couples. -
Genetic testing: The clinic offers genetic screening to detect hereditary diseases, helping reduce the risk of passing them on to the child.
What is the age limit for IVF using your own eggs?
After the age of 42, IVF success rates decline significantly. In cases of low ovarian reserve, egg donation may be considered as an alternative.
